This experience allows you to enjoy some of Tasmania’s best wine and cheese, along with a beautiful vineyard lunch! Departing Hobart the experience takes you east across the Tasman Bridge to the Coal Valley wine region – this is one of the largest wine growing areas in southern Tasmania.
First stop is Riversdale Estate for a wine tasting. The Estate family are the sixth generation to work and cultivate and have a love of the land. The Estate includes cropping and sheep, and of course the largest Tasmanian privately owned vineyard in the Coal River Valley. The gentle undulating land to the waterfront providing a unique maritime influence and microclimate and an ideal environment for the viticulture and agricultural enterprises. The unique location has all the characteristics needed to create award winning wines. The magnificent views, European interiors, Cellar Door, and superb French Restaurant have been carefully designed to give you a warm and unforgettable experience and a piece of Tasmania’s hidden brilliance.
Next stop is Frogmore Creek Wines for a wine tasting followed by lunch. One of Tasmania’s most awarded wineries, proudly family owned. Frogmore Creek sources grapes from the finest cool climate regions in Tasmania. Frogmore Creek also produces Forty-Two Degrees South and the Storm Bay wines. Distributing exceptional quality wines from the finest Tasmanian regions across all states of Australia, South East Asia and America. After the wine tasting you will enjoy a vineyard lunch that consists of two savoury and one sweet dish. The menu varies dependent upon season, and most dietary requirements can be catered for.
Next stop is Pooley Wines for a wine tasting. Established in 1985 when the late Denis and Margaret Pooley planted ten rows of Riesling and seven rows of Pinot Noir on their 16-hectare farm at Cooinda Vale in the Coal River Valley in southern Tasmania.
Today, after more than 20 years of producing premium quality cool-climate wines, and having been awarded numerous trophies and medals at prestigious wine shows, the Pooley family has established a second vineyard in the Coal River Valley at Richmond.
Final stop on tour is Puddleduck Vineyard for a wine tasting. The boutique family owned and operated vineyard was established in 1997, producing premium Tasmanian wines from grapes grown on the vineyard, and then processed within an hour of picking in an energy neutral winery.
After the completion of the experience you are centrally located to visit the Salamanca Market (Saturday’s) or stroll around the waterfront before enjoying an evening meal at one of the many beautiful restaurants. The Hobart Twilight Market operates between October – March at Long Beach, Sandy Bay on the 1st and 3rd Friday. The market showcases the best of Tasmanian eats, drinks, design and music!
